« Best Factual Video on Pregnancy »

My husband and I borrowed this video from the local library at a friend's recommendation. It was fabulous and I have since gone on to recommend it to many other expectant parents.

For a detailed, factual description of what is happening in the womb, this is truly the best video out there. The script is interesting and tasteful (nothing too offensive - there is a birth scene at the end and mention of what happens at conception, but it would be appropriate for a child-birth class or older kids), the footage is visually stunning, the information is interesting and useful, and the overall impression you're left with is that human life is pretty amazing!

I gave this 4 stars (it would have been 4 1/2) instead of 5 for these reasons: 1, the show drags a little in the middle, becoming slightly repetitive as it details the emerging senses. 2, While the purpose of this video is not to be a cautionary tale or "how to care for your baby and body" video, there were a few spots I found a little off-putting. The video briefly mentioned that alcohol "should be avoided," and then moved on. I thought that would be a perfect point to detail WHY drug and alcohol use is so damaging - namely, that it stops baby's body from developing, her senses from developing, etc. I understand the video doesn't want to be preachy, but informative. Yet still, even from a scientific point of view, more could have been said here.

Overall, however, this is an excellent movie and a must-see for all expectant parents. It really makes you appreciate how miraculous little babies are! .:. Rating: 4 / 5

« Great documentary »

I loved the 3D graphics. Throughout the film it seemed like I was looking at a real baby in a real womb in real life. .:. Rating: 5 / 5

« Conception to Birth: Baby's Incredible Journey »

This beautiful and moving film is a "must see" for any expectant mother who is interested in the development of her unborn child. I found it to be informative and miraculous to have an up close and personal look at the stages of development of a baby. The technology involved is so stunning and as I watched I felt an overwhelming sense of awe of how we all came to be who we are. National Geographic is to be commended for such a wonderful and informative program. How could anyone possessing even a shred of humanity ever consider abortion after watching this fantastic presentation! A great gift for every "Mother to be". .:. Rating: 5 / 5
